Parents who participate in an employer-provided dependent care plan should be aware that they will
forfeit any money they have set aside in the plan if it is not spent by the end of the plan year.
If your family has set aside more than the amount paid to my child care during the year, you may want to
take steps to make sure that you spend all of the funds in your plan. Parents have until 90 days after the
end of their plan year to submit receipts for child care expenses for the previous year. Plan years usually
end on December 31st.
Remember that any money in your plan that is not spent on child care services will automatically be turned
over to your employer. Child care funds cannot be carried forward from one plan year to the next.
This is your opportunity to turn over any unspent money to my child care program. I will use this money to
improve the quality of care in my child care program. If you have any questions, please contact me.
